Moving In

Residence Halls open at 8:00am. All students moving into a residence hall on North Campus are given a designated move-in time based on their last name to help with traffic flow (you will receive additional information in the mail with important housing information).

Last name beginning with A-G: Move in 11:00am - 2:00pm
Last name beginning with H-O: Move in 2:00pm - 5:00pm
Last name beginning with P-Z: Move in 8:00am - 11:00am

Students and staff volunteers in red shirts will be on hand to help. All students moving into a residence hall on West Campus or into Collegetown can move in anytime between 8:00am and 6:00pm. Please note, any trucks over 14’ long will not be permitted on campus on Friday. Any trucks 14’ or longer will be allowed to drop off their loads on Saturday. However, there will not be volunteers available that day to assist you.

New Student Registration
8:00am - 6:00pm • Bartels Hall

All new students are required to attend New Student Registration. Consider registration your “one-stop shop” for tying up loose ends that may hold up your enrollment. You will receive a packet of information containing vital administrative materials. To make registration fast and easy for you, please complete all forms and requirements (including activating your Network ID and Cornell email address) as soon as possible. You will not be enrolling in courses at this event.

Get Your Cornell ID Card
New students who submitted photographs and signatures on the required form from Cornell Bound will have their ID cards waiting for them; if not, you will need to have your photo taken at registration.

Get your Custom Profile Sheet
This sheet is your personalized registration to-do list including services you have signed up for and tasks you still need to complete.

And the Rest...
In order to complete your university registration, you need to make sure all financial obligations are taken care of, that all health requirements are met, and that all other requirements on your profile sheet are resolved. Below is a list of offices that will be on hand to help you if you should need any assistance in any of these areas.

Bursar and Financial Aid
Staff members will be available to answer any questions. Regular office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. The Office of the University Bursar is in 260 Day Hall, and the Office of Financial Aid and Student Employment is in 203 Day Hall.

If you have not yet applied for Cornellcard and wish to do so, you may complete an application at Registration or at the Office of the Bursar, 260 Day Hall.

Campus Life Dining and Retail Services
You must have a Cornell ID Card to dine! If you have not signed up for a meal plan, you may do so at Check-In Registration at Bartels Hall, at any dining hall, or online at www.dining.cornell.edu (Net ID required). Guest meal tickets may be purchased at the Campus Services Event, or pay at the door of Dining Halls.

Commuter and Parking Services: Bus Passes and Parking Permits
If you've ordered a bus pass, parking permit, or bike registration in advance, it will be mailed to your local address just before you arrive – it should be your first piece of mail at Cornell. If not, the Office of Transportation Services will be available to offer on-campus parking permits, transit passes, and bicycle registrations. Beginning August 23, these services will be available from 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM at the Office of Transportation Services, 116 Maple Avenue.

International Students Check-In
All international students who did not participate in PREPARE must check in with the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) within 15 days of arriving! You may check in at registration, or check in at the ISSO, in B50 Caldwell Hall. Please see the International Students page for more information on documents you must bring.

Gannett: Cornell University Health Services
The University's health services and facilities will be represented to provide you with information.

Student Employment
Students planning to work at Cornell are encouraged to stop by the Student Employment Services table to meet with staff, and pick up information relevant to student employees. Any student expecting to work at Cornell can complete the required federal I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form by presenting original documentation such as a US passport, or a drivers license along with an original birth certification or social security card. The I-9 form must be completed before any new employee can start a job at Cornell.

Student Health Insurance
The student health insurance representative at this station can provide information about the student insurance plan.

Important! Deadline for Registration is September 15, 2006!

The deadline for completing registration requirements is September 15, 2006. Completion of registration after this date results in a late fee assessment. To complete the registration process, students must:

• Satisfy New York State health requirements: (see page 3 of the Orientation Guide for more information)
• Complete course enrollment
• Have no holds posted by your College or the Judicial Administrator

Campus Services Event
8:00am - 4:00pm • Barton Hall

Come see what else Cornell has to offer! While students are attending registration, families and friends are invited to attend this information extravaganza in nearby Barton Hall. New students will be guided to the event upon completing registration. This is a wonderful opportunity for new Cornell students and their families to learn about the wealth of programs and services offered at the University. Seating and concessions are also available if you need a break on a busy move-in day!
