Getting to Ithaca and Cornell
Air service is available directly to Ithaca via Tompkins County Airport with 34 flights that arrive and depart daily with non-stop service to New York (LaGuardia), Philadelphia, and Detroit. Additional airlines fly into Syracuse; however, this option requires traveling 60 miles to Ithaca by airline limousine, rental car, or bus. Airline Limousine Service provides service from both the Ithaca and Syracuse airports. Visiting Historic Downtown Ithaca

While in Ithaca, a visit to downtown is a must. Hop on the #10 TCAT bus in front of Day Hall, which is free to students by showing their Cornell ID card and $1.50 otherwise. Enjoy a short ride down the hill to “The Commons,” an award-winning pedestrian mall.
Historic Downtown Ithaca’s Commons is rich in international culture and diversity. Shopping in locally owned one-of-a-kind specialty shops is Ithaca’s alternative to “cookie-cutter” malls. Downtown offers everything from local handcrafts to European porcelain, evening wear to camping gear, and educational toys to electric guitars—no two stores are alike!
There are more than 40 downtown dining spots featuring everything from cafés and taverns, to cozy inside venues featuring casual to elegant atmospheres. There is outdoor dining during the warmer months serving a variety of cuisines.
